You could share some great news, and they\u2019ll turn it into something bleak.<\/p>\n<p id=\"ember4837\" class=\"ember-view reader-text-block__paragraph\"><strong>Great news!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p id=\"ember4838\" class=\"ember-view reader-text-block__paragraph\"><em>&#8218;We\u2019re growing rapidly!&#8216;<\/em><\/p>\n<p id=\"ember4839\" class=\"ember-view reader-text-block__paragraph\"><strong>\u2018The person\u2019:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p id=\"ember4840\" class=\"ember-view reader-text-block__paragraph\"><em>\u2018Yeah, well, good luck with that. You\u2019ll never find enough staff to sustain it.\u2019<\/em><\/p>\n<h4 id=\"ember4841\" class=\"ember-view reader-text-block__heading-3\">But<\/h4>\n<p id=\"ember4842\" class=\"ember-view reader-text-block__paragraph\">Why are they often disliked? It\u2019s not just because they spot negatives in positives. It\u2019s more likely because they never spot positives in negatives. I mean, what do they say when you have some bad news? Yes, exactly:<\/p>\n<p id=\"ember4843\" class=\"ember-view reader-text-block__paragraph\">\u2018<em>Told you so.<\/em>\u2019<\/p>\n<h4 id=\"ember4844\" class=\"ember-view reader-text-block__heading-3\">And?<\/h4>\n<p id=\"ember4845\" class=\"ember-view reader-text-block__paragraph\">Well, in the example, they were probably right\u2014it is hard to find staff nowadays. They have a knack for spotting trouble that might make things worse.<\/p>\n<h4 id=\"ember4846\" class=\"ember-view reader-text-block__heading-3\">So<\/h4>\n<p id=\"ember4847\" class=\"ember-view reader-text-block__paragraph\">Instead of just disliking them, it might be better to adopt a similar approach, but not just in a negative way. I suggest you always<\/p>\n<blockquote id=\"ember4848\" class=\"ember-view reader-text-block__blockquote\"><p><em>find at least two positives in all negatives and vice versa. <\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p id=\"ember4849\" class=\"ember-view reader-text-block__paragraph\">You will not only be able to respond to \u2018<em>this person<\/em>\u2019 in a positive way,<\/p>\n<blockquote id=\"ember4850\" class=\"ember-view reader-text-block__blockquote\"><p><strong><em>you will be thinking a couple of steps ahead too.<\/em><\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p id=\"ember4851\" class=\"ember-view reader-text-block__paragraph\"><em>(By the way, do yourself (and me) a favour and write them down. On paper.
